TCCTA - Committee Members

Committee Members for 2025-26

Members of all special committees shall be appointed for terms of one year (April 1 – March 31).

Standing committee (legislative, membership services, and professional development) members shall be appointed for terms of three years each (standing committee term expirations listed below).

Auditing Committee

The Auditing Committee conducts a general examination of the fiscal records of the Association and seeks evidence to assure that the fiscal records of the Association have been maintained according to sound auditing procedures. (Meets once a year at the TCCTA Annual Convention in the spring.)

Convention Committee

The Convention Committee is assigned appropriate responsibilities in connection with the Association’s annual convention. (Meets once a year at the TCCTA Annual Convention in the spring.)

Election Committee

The Election Committee has a general responsibility for assuring the election of officers and voting is conducted properly and in accordance with provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws. (Meets twice at the TCCTA Annual Convention in the spring.)

Legislative Committee

1. Adhere to the established Policies and Procedures for TCCTA Committees (General—All Committees).

2. Develop and present to the Executive Committee recommendations concerning legislation affecting members of the Association and the profession.

3. Keep TCCTA members fully informed on matters concerning legislation through the Messenger, and other appropriate means.

4. As authorized by the Executive Committee, explore areas of mutual legislative interest between the Texas Community College Teachers Association and other groups and organizations whose goals and purposes are compatible with those of the Association.

5. Upon request by the President, assist in the preparation of testimony and evidence in support of the official position of the Association before governmental bodies.

6. Promote and encourage greater interest and activity in legislative matters on the part of the officers and members of the Association.

7. Keep the President and Executive Director fully informed of all developments concerning the work of the committee.

8. Other duties and responsibilities as may be delegated by the Association or the Executive Committee.

Time commitment: 10-15 hours (varying depending on the amount of legislation relating to TCCTA’s mission).

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee accepts general responsibility for enlisting members in the Association. (Meets via Zoom in the early fall.)

Membership Services Committee

The Membership Services Committee considers proposals, offers, suggestions, and plans for benefits for Association members and transmits its recommendations to the Executive Committee. (Meets twice a year at the Faculty Leaders Conference in the fall and the TCCTA Annual Convention in the spring.)

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee nominates highly qualified candidates for offices in the Association. (Meets via Zoom.)

Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development Committee promotes professional growth throughout the Association by maintaining high-quality Professional Development Programs for our members. Reviews of ongoing programs are performed on an as-needed basis to provide suggestions for improvement and growth. The Professional Development Committee will respond to the changing requirements of our membership to provide leadership on new program opportunities. (Time commitment is as needed, depending on the programs under review)

Publications Committee

The Publications Committee solicits articles for possible inclusion in the TCCTA Messenger; referees articles submitted; and offers the Executive Committee recommendations regarding changes in publication guidelines and policies. (Meets twice a year at the Faculty Leaders Conference in the fall and the TCCTA Annual Convention in the spring.)

Resolutions Committee

The Resolutions Committee carefully studies and evaluates proposed resolutions for possible consideration by the Association in its annual convention. (Meets once a year at the TCCTA Annual Convention in the spring.)
