Resources for TCCTA Campus Representatives
Bookmark this page for easy reference!
This page is designed as a convenient tool in your efforts to recruit TCCTA members on your campus. We strongly urge you to enlist colleagues to help in your efforts; as a team can be extremely effective.
Although the following has proven effective, you are the true expert on your campus, so feel free to pick and choose as needed. The documents are designed for easy printing and duplication. If you are unable to gain access to any of the files or links below, don't hesitate to call the state office (1-800-288-6850 Ext. 11). We are here to help you!
We truly appreciate your hard work.
An introduction to campus rep issues and resources:
Getting started. . .
- "Information and Suggestions for TCCTA Campus Representatives" provides answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding membership.
- "Great Ideas" shares several initiatives supporting the work of a Campus Rep; included sharing of best practices, building a Campus Rep “team,” and streamlining the renewal process.

- "Profiles of Legal Cases" offers examples of the sorts of cases covered under the liability insurance program.
Your TCCTA Promotion Package. . .
Based upon campus membership history, we have mailed you a membership campaign box of supplies. The current dues are:
- Professional Membership: $45
- Associate Membership: $35
- Student Membership: $30
- Unaffiliated Membership: $35
- Liability Insurance remains at $50 plus membership
Please call or e-mail the state office to have additional material sent if you do not have adequate supplies.
We recommend payroll deduction for TCCTA dues. . .
Experience has taught us that schools that allow payroll deduction have an outstanding advantage in membership recruitment. This will likely require making early contact with your president or chancellor, as well as payroll officials. Here is an example of a payroll "best practice" from Amarillo College.
When the time is right (e.g., orientations, on pay day!). . .
- Early convocation for new faculty (full or part time): Try to personally greet your new colleagues on behalf of TCCTA. Hand them the A Special Invitation to Part Time Faculty brochure (included in your package of mailed material) or the "Welcome" Flyer for New Faculty, depending upon the event.
- As colleagues return to campus: If possible, try to make sure there is a brochure in the mail box of each educator eligible for membership. The personalized 4-panel brochures included in your package are pre-addressed for distribution to previous members.
- At the first faculty convocation: Ask to get on the agenda early for a brief presentation, using all possible materials in your "arsenal," including flyers and brochures. If you have the opportunity, you may wish to use this PowerPoint presentation, "Join TCCTA!" (courtesy of the TCCTA Publications Committee).
- All documents can also be sent through campus mail if college rules permit and some (e.g., "Join TCCTA!" PowerPoint and the "Welcome" flyer for new faculty) can be customized easily by inserting your name and the name of your college!
Keep the state office informed with monthly reports. . .
In addition to online access, monthly reports from you are very helpful, particularly when mailing paper enrollment forms and personal checks to the state office. These reports are available for printing from these links:

The following documents have proven effective in membership recruitment, in addition to the brochures in your package:

It is a one-page (if printed front and back) newsletter containing information on the recent Special Session, the outlook for the forthcoming Regular Session, and a message from TCCTA lobbyist Beaman Floyd. An enrollment form is included.
- "Top Ten Reasons to Join TCCTA" is a concise list of the benefits of membership—useful for distribution at any time.
- "A Special Invitation" is a handy one-page summary of the benefits of membership—including an enrollment form.
- Membership Benefits Posters—Post on faculty information boards or simply on your office door:
