Description: This session provides an update on VCT’s current efforts and future aspirations to support the Texas Two-year College Student Success Initiative. The Virtual College of Texas is typically thought of as the place to go when students need courses that aren’t available at the home college. This VCT mission to enhance access to higher education continues—and it has also evolved. The mission now includes to increase student success. To address this new mission element, VCT is using the power of collaboration to negotiate state licenses to web-based services that support two important pillars of student success: courses and student support. To date, VCT has provided statewide, collaborative licenses to:
- READI (a tool for assessing readiness for distance learning)
- SoftChalk (a powerful, instructor-friendly online lesson builder)
- Dallas Telelearnng’s Digital Resource Repository (2,500+ short video clips from Telelearning-produced telecourses, plus more than 1,500 learning objects from other sources).
Additional services are currently being arranged or under consideration. Attend this session for a complete overview.
