Events: 2008 Welding Schedule
Friday, February 22nd, 11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Friday, the Welding Technology Section will discuss "Perkins IV and Outcomes for Welding Students," with speaker Bryan Baker, department chair of industrial trades at Tyler Junior College.
Mr. Baker says, "The topic of my presentation will be to discuss accountability as well as outcomes for Carl Perkins IV as it relates to welding programs. Also included will be a discussion of the new 16 Career Clusters."
The presenter is a graduate of Eastfield College with an associate of applied science degree in welding technology. He also has a bachelor's and Master of Education degree from the University of North Texas.
Mr. Baker adds, "I worked my way through college welding and teaching. I have worked in the welding industry for over twenty years. My experience includes welding in both the construction and manufacturing fields. I have also worked as a welding instructor at Eastfield College, Mountain View College, and Northeast Texas Community College. I have an interest in vocational counseling and have worked as a vocational counselor and director of career services."
Saturday, February 23rd, 9:00-10:15 a.m.
Saturday morning the group will participate in a round table discussion on "Pertinent Perkins IV and 16 Career Clusters," with Mr. Baker.
