Events: 2008 Counseling & Student Personnel Services Schedule

Friday, February 22nd, 9:30-11:00 a.m.


The Counseling and Student Personnel Services Section offers two programs crucial to all educators.

Friday they will take up "Counselor and Faculty Self-Care: Burnout Prevention," presented by Kay Hale, a licensed psychologist in full time private practice in Dallas for over 25 years. He primarily works with adults with anxiety, depression, and marital issues. He has degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of North Texas. This presentation of self-care has been given at the Dallas Psychological Association, SMU Counseling Center, Cooper Clinic, and various counseling staffs in the DFW area.


Saturday, February 23rd, 10:30-11:45 a.m.

 

James BartlettSaturday's program deals with "Memory and Cognition in Aging," presented by noted scholar James Bartlett, who holds a Ph.D. from Yale University. He is the author of numerous articles, most recently concerning the brain processes involved in perception and recognition of faces, reliability of eyewitness testimony in old age, and aging memory for faces and music.

Dr. Bartlett served as associate dean of the school of human Development and Dean of Graduate studies and research at the University of Texas, Dallas. He was recently elected chair of the University of Texas System Faculty Advisory Council.
