Friday morning's Chemistry Section program will feature a noted authority on "Using an Online Learning System to Increase Conceptual Understanding." Presenting will be Ramesh D. Arasasingham, a lecturer in the school of physical sciences at the University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Arasasingham is the author of many articles in the fields of chemistry and science education. He is the winner of numerous teaching awards, including the 2005-06 Lecturer of the Year from the UCI Council on Student Experience and division of undergraduate education.
In addition, Dr. Arasasingham received the Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education from the school of physical sciences in 2003. He was voted Favorite Professor by students in the school in 1995.
Friday afternoon, at 4:00, there will be an informal discussion of "Mastering Chemistry." Refreshments will be served, sponsored by Pearson Science Publishing.
Saturday, February 23rd, 9:00-10:15 a.m.
Saturday morning's presentation will feature Dolores C. Aquino, professor of chemistry at San Jacinto College-Central Campus, who will speak on "Revising the ACS Guidelines for Chemistry in the Two-Year College."
Dr. Aquino recently chaired the Committee on Chemistry in the Two-Year Colleges for the division of chemical education of the American Chemical Society.
