Ms. Waukechon has an associates degree from Howard College, a BA in art history from the University of Houston, and an MLIS from the University of Texas at Austin.

Also on Friday, the group will explore "Collaborative Teaching," with presenters Linda Baker and Karen Mongo of the Dallas County Community College District.
They say, "Find out how our speech communication program and the library collaborated on an activity to measure specific learning outcomes. To do so, they developed a learning process for students working on informative speech."

She also teaches as an adjunct instructor. At her school she has received the Spirit of El Centro Award, the Innovator of the Year Award, and the business division Adjunct Instructor of the Year Award.

Saturday's program will feature "Raising Dewey: Authentic and Relevant Professional Growth for the Community College Librarian," presented by Darrell Cook, library circulation manager at El Centro College.
He says, "This session explores the abundant professional growth opportunities available to eager, learning-centered community college librarians. After the session, participants will know how and where to acquire free or low-cost, high-quality continuing education, to become active servant-leaders in their institutions and communities, to locate and attend (or present at) professional conferences, collaborate routinely with peers nationwide, and get published respectably."
